Dr. Jodi Chowen currently serves as the Vice President of Student Experience and Retention at Ensign College, where she works with dedicated colleagues to provide holistic student support services.
She earned a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Brigham Young University in which she studied college student thriving. Prior to her tenure at Ensign College, Dr. Chowen oversaw Career Services, Academic Internships, and Experiential Learning at BYU for more than a decade. She has taught student development and religion classes for several years, and she is a certified Gallup Strengths coach. Dr. Chowen worked at BYU-Hawaii for eight years where she helped students identify and achieve their academic and career goals, including facilitating connections for international students in their home countries.
Dr. Chowen has a strong record of collaborative work with institutions of higher education in Utah and across the Church Education System (CES) sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoys building strong relationships with students, colleagues, alumni, and industry leaders. Most recently, Dr. Chowen has worked as a scholar-partner on a U.S. Fulbright-funded project in Jordan: Enhancing Career Readiness for Jordanian Female Graduates in ICT. Dr. Chowen is married to Dr. Brent Chowen, and together they have 5 children and 2 grandchildren.
