Associate Academic Vice President -- Curriculum

BIO

Benjamin Malczyk joined Ensign College in January of 2022. As the Associate Academic Vice President, Ben has helped streamline the curriculum change process, in addition to initiating other instructional and strategic improvements. Ben also assisted in establishing a college-wide Annual Program Assessment process, making strategic curricular and policy changes to align with BYU-Idaho and BYU-Pathway Worldwide.

Prior to his position at Ensign College, Ben was a tenured Associate Professor at the University of Nebraska Kearney (UNK) in the Social Work Department. During his time at UNK, Ben served as Program Director, Online Program Director, Faculty Senate President and on multiple University-level committees. Experiences in accreditation, online program and course development, program assessment, working with a diverse faculty body among other experiences have prepared Ben to effectively serve in his current role at Ensign College.

Ben was born and raised in upstate New York, the same birthplace as his favorite game, baseball. After a mission in Recife, Brazil, Ben returned to BYU Provo, where he met and married his wife Jen.

Ben earned his bachelor's degree in Marriage, Family, and Human Development, and a Master's degree in Social Work. In 2015, Ben earned his PhD in Social Welfare and a certificate in Online Learning and Teaching, before taking a position as a social work professor at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He and his wife are parents to 5 children.
