Practical Training

As an international student, you may have the opportunity to gain program-specific practical training while or after attending school.

CURRICULAR PRACTICAL TRAINING (CPT)

Would you like to take advantage of practical training while still taking courses? If an internship is required for your program, you are eligible for Curricular Practical Training (CPT). CPT is your route to gaining on-the-job skills that enhance your program, and is a great addition to your resume. Be aware that CPT and on-campus work cannot be engaged in simultaneously, so plan ahead if you are currently employed on-campus.

For complete information regarding CPT, please visit the International Students Office or review our policy below.

SELF-EMPLOYMENT

You should take a moment to understand what qualifies as self-employment. The law requires that your focus be on obtaining your education, and prohibits you from working outside of student jobs on campus. Please keep in mind that international students may not engage in any activity that's considered self-employment.
