Who Should Apply

New and continuing students who have completed one of the following Self-Reliance courses offered by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints within Utah’s Wasatch Front (Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, and Utah Counties) are eligible for this scholarship. The approved courses are:

  • Personal Finance
  • Find a Better Job
  • Education for a Better Work
  • Starting and Growing My Business
  • Emotional Resilience *new*
  • Life Skills (must have completed all three sections) *new*

Students must meet all other eligibility requirements mentioned in the Ensign College Scholarship Policy.

Award Amount

$500 (12+ Credits) and $250 (for less than 12 credits).

Duration

One semester – not renewable.

Priority Deadline*

1 April (Spring), 15 August (Fall), and 1 December (Winter)

*Priority will be given to those who meet the deadline. However, applications will be accepted until the last Friday before the new semester begins. If funding is available, students who apply after the priority deadline may still receive the scholarship.

Available for full or part-time students.

Frequently Asked Questions
Students applying for this scholarship must provide proof of completion at the time of the scholarship application. If you cannot provide the official certificate, you can ask the course instructor to send you an email confirming you took the course – and you can upload a copy of that email.
Yes. The scholarship office will adjust this scholarship based on changes to the student’s schedule until the FAD (Financial Aid Census Date). Click here to see that date for each term.
Unfortunately, this scholarship is only available for students who complete the course in Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, or Utah County.
No. This scholarship is only available for students who take one of the official Self-Reliance classes offered by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Self-Reliance courses usually take about 12 weeks to complete.
