Knowing that your career field is modern, relevant and constantly evolving is important in today’s world. For Whitney Erikson, an alumnus of LDS Business College, the Social Media Marketing program has positioned her to achieve her dreams.
“I really think that if I hadn’t started out here at LDS Business College, I never would have gotten to where I am now,” Whitney said.
Whitney currently co-owns her own company doing product launches for start-ups all over the world. She met her business partner at LDS Business College.
Because LDS Business College is more than just business, Whitney could have chosen from several diverse degrees – ranging from interior design, medical coding, software development and cybersecurity.
“When I was on my mission, my mom said, ‘Hey, you need to figure out what classes you want to take,’” Whitney said. “She had sent me a video about the Social Media Marketing program, and I really liked what I saw. I thought the courses seemed very interesting, and I got super invested right away.”
In just her second semester, and in its infancy, she was president of the LDS Business College Social Media Agency. It got her even more invested in the program.
“Everything that I’ve done in my career is because the teachers here believed in me,” Whitney said. “I never wanted to be an entrepreneur. I never believed I could do that. My teachers saw more of my potential than I did. I always had lofty goals for myself, but never to this extent. Being able to be in a one-on-one setting kept pushing me to do more and more.”
Owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LDS Business College is a unit of the Church Educational System. Which means, Whitney was provided with a spiritually nourishing environment to complement her intellectually stimulating education.
“It was very helpful to have professors and teachers who understood me completely,” Whitney said. “The Gospel is such a huge part of my life. It was helpful to be able to apply education to the spiritual side of things. Before LDS Business College, I had never made that kind of connection.”
