College Holds Employee Recognition Awards Luncheon

Today, LDS Business College recognized two full-time employees for exhibiting excellent leadership characteristics and selfless service at the college, and being exemplary role models in becoming capable and trusted disciples of Jesus Christ.

President Kusch, with President’s Executive Council, selected a recipient for the Leadership Recognition Award and another for the Service Award.

Two full-time employees will be selected and honored in July and December each year as part of the College’s effort to increase recognition — a charge from Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf given on Oct. 24, 2017, during President Kusch’s inauguration as LDS Business College’s 13th president.

Wendy Porter, director of instructional design at the college, received the Leadership Award with this acknowledgment:

“Wendy has taken on a significant leadership role in the development of new certificates, course updates and training new staff and faculty in course design. She is a strong, well-rounded, humble leader to all members of the Instructional Design team. She’s also a friend to all those with whom she comes in contact. She exemplifies Christ-like attributes in the way she cares for and values her team, and urges them to strive to reach their full potential.”

Stephen Taylor, manager of the BC Café, received the Service Award with this acknowledgment:

“Steve is kind and gracious. His work is demanding, but his attitude remains supportive and helpful. He has gone out of his way to create a positive work environment and experience for the students working in the BC Café. He runs a tight ship and still finds time to pay attention to and personally care for individuals. He consistently goes about doing good in the service of others.”

In his introduction to the Recognition Awards, President Kusch said, “I’m reminded of the Savior’s words: ‘...Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me’ (Matthew 25:40). We’re fortunate to work with these two committed, noteworthy employees, and very pleased to honor and recognize them in today’s Employee Recognition Awards.”

Porter and Taylor each received plaques and a painting of the Savior. A third plaque which includes both the July 20, 2018 recipients was presented to the college and will be on display in a new Employee Recognition Awards area on the first floor. This area will be updated with a new plaque featuring Recognition Awards recipients twice a year.
