Each year, LDSBC DECA hosts a competition in coordination with Utah Food Bank to see which College department gives the most food or cash donations in a summer Food and Fund Drive.
Utah Food Bank is primarily looking for kid-friendly food like peanut butter, tuna, boxed dry meals, canned fruit, chili, SpaghettiOs, RavioliOs and other easy-to-open and microwave packaged or canned food.
Please, no bottled water donations.
The food bank does accept cans of expired food, as long as they’re not leaking.
Cash donations are also encouraged because of the food bank’s leveraged buying power. Every $1 cash donation is worth more than $7 in purchasing power for the Utah Food Bank.
Please consider a cash or food donation.
Canned and boxed food can be donated in receptacles located on every LDSBC floor. The floor with the most donations wins the coveted DECA Golden Can trophy.
Cash donations can be made online.
The annual LDSBC Food and Fund Drive ends on June 28.
In 2017, the College collected 1,600 pounds of food and $133 in cash donations. With your help, we hope to exceed last year’s contributions.
