LDSBC students excel at PBL competition

Students from LDS Business College participated in a PBL (project-based learning) virtual competition last week. A total of 18 LDBC students competed, collecting a total of 32 first- or second-place victories.

Colleges from around the state competed, including the University of Utah, Utah State University, Southern Utah University, Snow College and LDS Business College.

All first- and second-place winners have now qualified to compete in the national conference in June. The competition will also be virtual this year.

Project-based learning (PBL) is a dynamic classroom approach in which students actively explore real-world problems and challenges while acquiring a deeper knowledge.

DECA’s (Distributive Education Clubs of America) written and prepared events can help teachers engage students in project-based learning while teaching and reinforcing course curriculum. DECA’s written events and PBL support both formative and summative assessment. Throughout the project, students are self-assessing and improving their work. At the end of the project a business professional evaluates and scores the project.
