When she started the certification program, she was working as a receptionist for a law firm in downtown Salt Lake City. After she received her certificate, her boss gave her a raise because she became a specialist at Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, and was willing to share tools and tips with her co-workers.
At work, she was able to help digitize processes and documents, and teach others how to create presentations in PowerPoint. She felt like she was contributing in a worthwhile way. She grew to enjoy teaching and learning with others.
Georgia is grateful for her decision to take MOS certification course at LDS Business College. “Before I took the class, I only knew the basics. But now I can say I’m an expert,” she said.
She recommends everyone taking the MOS certification test. “It looks good on a resume and is a nice way to differentiate yourself.” And in her case, having the certification resulted in receiving a raise.
The MOS certificate has not only helped in her job, but also with her interior design projects. Georgia commented that “no matter the course of study, this certificate will be useful for everyone.”
On the day of the MOS certification test, Georgia felt confident because the LDS Business College class and teacher had prepared her well. One of the reasons she chose the College was because the classes were smaller and she could interact more with fellow classmates and receive personalized attention from the professor.
In the future, Georgia plans to work in the interior design industry and continue to utilize her mad Microsoft skills.
