Brandon Bowen, Director of Learning Resources at Ensign College, has been named the recipient of the 2021 Special Recognition Award from the Utah Library Association (ULA).
The Special Recognition Award recognizes librarians who have served in or assisted with the management of ULA in leadership or organizational positions. It is not given every year.
In order to be nominated, the nominee must be a member of ULA and have shown true dedication to the cause of ULA during the time of leadership. The contribution recognized may have happened continuously or over more than one time period. This can take the form of continuous leadership/contribution, a unique contribution to the association, or outstanding recognition.
Daniel Mauchley, ULA President, chose Bowen for this honor – pointing to his years of dedicated service to the ULA Program Board in various positions. He highlighted Bowen’s incredible efforts to organize the 2020 ULA Conference, and then pivot and adapt when libraries and schools had to shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bowen was recognized in the virtual Utah Library Association Conference last month, and this month, received a physical award with an in-person visit from Mauchley.
