Ecclesiastical Endorsement

Continuing students must complete an Ecclesiastical Endorsement annually.

Students must obtain an ecclesiastical endorsement in order to be admitted to Ensign College, and maintain an active endorsement to continue class enrollment and graduate.

The Registration Office begins accepting ecclesiastical endorsements on March 1st of each academic year. Endorsements must be submitted prior to fall registration.

Whether on or off campus, all students are expected to follow the Honor Code, which includes the (1) Academic Honesty Policy, (2) Dress and Grooming Principles and Expectations and (3) Continuing Student Ecclesiastical Endorsement.

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Applicants who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints must receive an endorsement from the priesthood leaders of their unit of record. In most cases, this means you need to visit with your bishop or branch president AND with a member of your stake presidency. Currently serving missionaries should interview with their mission president.

  • Request an endorsement from the bishop or branch president of the ward/branch that holds your current Church membership record.
  • Select “Student” > “Continuing/Currently Enrolled” > “I am currently enrolled at Ensign College”.
  • Log in with your Church account.

Other Students

Applicants who are not members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints must complete a religious recommendation known as an 'ecclesiastical endorsement' from either their own religious leader or a bishop or branch president of the Church and have an interview with the chaplain of the school to which they are applying.

Withdrawn or Declined Ecclesiastical Endorsement

An ecclesiastical leader may withdraw a student’s endorsement at any time or may decline to endorse a continuing student if the leader determines the student is no longer eligible for the endorsement. For more information regarding withdrawn or declined endorsements, please see the Ensign Catalog.
