Brent Fillmore
Institute Director
Brent Fillmore grew up in Utah, California, Japan, New York, and Virginia. He attended BYU and SLCC prior to his service as a missionary in the Brazil Porto Alegre Mission.
He studied Political Science and International Relations at the University of Utah. His M.Ed. degree from Utah State is in Secondary Education and Supervision of Teaching.
Since 1992, he has enjoyed teaching students in seminaries and institutes in Salt Lake, Blacksburg, Virginia, and Logan, Utah.
He has served in the Church as a young men leader, high councilor, bishop (twice), stake presidency councilor, and mission president in the Portugal Lisbon Mission (2018-2021). The best decision of his life was to be sealed to Joan Woodbury in the Jordan River Temple in March of 1987. They are the parents of six children and ten grandchildren.

Mark Christensen

Mark Christensen was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and served a mission in the Massachusetts Boston Mission. Brother Christensen received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah and later, a Master of Arts in Educational Counseling from the University of Phoenix.
Brother Christensen has been teaching in the Church Educational System for 38 years and loves teaching and learning about the gospel of Jesus Christ. While he has several indoor and outdoor “hobbies,” his favorite activity is being with, teaching, and learning from, students in the classroom. He and his wife, Cheri, are the parents of four children and eight grandchildren.

Richard Elms
Instructor
Richard Elms grew up in California and Utah. He served a full-time mission in the Washington DC North Mission.
Upon his return, he attended Utah State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. He furthered his education and received a master’s degree in Secondary Ed and an Ed. D. from Washington State University.
He has taught seminary and institute for 30 years in Washington, Michigan, and Utah. He married Lisa Gardner in the Salt Lake Temple. They have five children and seven grandchildren.
Richard Elms grew up in California and Utah. He served a full-time mission in the Washington DC North Mission.

Kevin Hallstrom

Kevin Hallstrom was raised on the east shore of beautiful Oahu, Hawaii. He attended Brigham Young University in Provo, where he received a Bachelor of Social Studies Teaching. Around that time, he also served a mission in New Caledonia and learned French.
After teaching geography in West Jordan for two years, Brother Hallstrom returned to the islands to study law at the University of Hawaii, where he received a Juris Doctorate. He worked as a real estate and business transaction attorney for a time and then started a position as a Seminaries & Institutes Coordinator. Kevin married the amazing Melanie Wiser in the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple in 2005, and together they have four outgoing children.
Now Brother Hallstrom has the great privilege of witnessing learners come closer to Jesus Christ and receive the precious blessings of His gospel.

Robb Hoch (pronounced Hoke) is entering his 29th year with Seminaries & Institutes—with assignments at middle school, high school, institute, curriculum, and now Ensign College. He also teaches English 201.
He served as a full-time missionary in Virginia. He also served as a bishop, but his favorite calling was Primary Chorister. He is currently in the Stake Presidency.
Brother Hoch earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from BYU, a master’s degree from Idaho State University in adult education, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from the University of Utah.
He and his wife, Melissa, are guides for MHA tours and have traveled to England, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Japan, South Africa, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, and throughout the United States. They have six children and four grandchildren.

Karen Indelicato
Administrative Assistant
Karen Indelicato grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has worked at the Ensign College Institute of Religion for the past 2 years, after 12 years at Challenger Elementary. She says that the most rewarding part of working at Ensign is being able to help and interact with its amazing student body. Their hard work and resiliency inspires her!
Karen is the proud mom of one daughter. She is an activity days leader and is on the missionary committee in her ward. When she isn’t sitting at her desk in the Institute, you can find her running, taking her family out to ice cream, or laughing with her sister.

Robert Lund grew up in Utah, Washington, Idaho, and California. After returning from a mission in Georgia/Alabama, he became an instructor at the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Provo, Utah.
While working at the MTC, he fell in love with Marie Olsen, who had just returned from serving her mission in Milan Italy. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1987. They have three wonderful children and seven adorable grandchildren.
Brother Lund has been a religious educator for over 35 years. He has taught Institute at Weber State, BYU, University of Utah, and Ensign College. Brother Lund received a master's degree in Information and Library Science from BYU-Provo and was awarded a juris doctorate degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University (BYU Law).

Daniel Prestwich has taught Seminary and Institute classes in both Utah and Southeast Idaho. He lives in South Jordan with his beautiful wife and three children.
He has also worked both clinically and administratively for Intermountain Healthcare. He has a bachelor's degree in nursing from Weber State University and a master's degree in health education from Idaho State University.
He is deeply grateful for the opportunity he has each workday to help Ensign College students learn more about Jesus Christ and his everlasting gospel.

Heidi Smith grew up in Idaho, Montana, and Utah. She attended Utah Valley University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Deaf Studies with an emphasis in Interpreting. She continued her education at the University of Utah, where she received a master’s degree in Accounting and a Juris Doctor.
Sister Smith taught Seminary before coming to Ensign College. She has enjoyed serving in a variety of church callings including temple worker, Sunday School and Relief Society teacher, Temple Prep teacher, Self-Reliance facilitator, and missionary in the Uruguay Montevideo West Mission. She currently serves in her ward’s Relief Society Presidency.
Sister Smith loves being active, reading, and getting together with her friends for karaoke. She and her goldendoodle, Ollie, live in Bountiful, Utah, where they enjoy adventuring in the great outdoors when it’s not too cold.
