Tired of leaving classes 10 minutes early to catch the train? Wish you had more time to work with your group or get help from your teacher? You spoke up, and we heard you! Beginning Winter 2026, Ensign College is adjusting class start and end times to better fit your needs and help you succeed.
What’s Changing?
- 3-credit block classes will be 20 minutes longer. More class time means more opportunities to ask questions and connect with your instructor.
- Start and end times will now line up with train schedules. You won’t have to leave class early to catch the train.
- 1- and 2-credit classes have also been adjusted. Check the College Scheduler for specifics.

Why the Change?
Currently, class times often end a few minutes before the hour, which makes it tough to catch the train on time. For example, if you have a class that ends at 3:50 p.m., you need to leave 10 minutes early to catch the 4 p.m. train.
Also, students and faculty have asked for more time in class to work in groups and get help and instruction.
“These changes will help you succeed.” Denice Lingen, Dean of General Studies explains. “Students will have more time to talk and interact in class.”
Important Details
- The new schedule applies primarily to 3-credit classes.
- Other credit options may follow a different schedule.
- The new schedule officially begins in Winter 2026 semester.
Schedule Change: Student FAQ
Why is Ensign College changing the class schedule?
Because of you! The new class times are designed to reduce stress and give you more time in class to learn, ask questions, and succeed.
When do these changes take effect?
The new class times begin Winter Semester 2026 (January).
How will this impact my current class schedule?
These changes do not affect fall classes. If you are registering for Winter 2026 or later, you’ll see the updated times in College Scheduler. If you’re already planning ahead and have questions, your academic advisor can help you.
How does this affect devotional?
You will now have more time for devotional: classes on Tuesdays will end at 10:40 and resume at 12:50. This gives you time to attend devotional and eat lunch or get some work done before your afternoon classes.
