Congratulations on finishing! Here’s everything you need to know about graduating from Ensign College.

Dates and Deadlines

You apply for graduation and commencement at the same time, and before the deadline of your last semester.

March 17, 2026, is the deadline for your application if you wish to walk in commencement on April 17, 2026.

If you do not plan to walk in commencement, the deadline is July 14, 2026.

  • Graduation-Commencement Application Deadline – If you wish to walk in person at commencement, you must apply on or before March 17, 2026.
  • Grad Fair - Jan. 21-22, 2026 - 12 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Student Commons
  • Cap & Gown Pickup: April 6-16, 2026, library
  • Alumni Gift Photo Shoot- April 7-8, 2026
  • Graduation Celebration - Thursday, April 16, 2026, 6-9 p.m., the Summit
  • Commencement Graduate Check-in – Friday, April 17, 2026, 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.
  • Commencement Guest Arrival – Friday, April 17, 2026, 9 a.m.
  • Commencement Ceremony – Friday, April 17, 10 a.m.

Apply for Graduation & Commencement

You must apply for graduation in order to receive your certificate or degree. When you apply to graduate, you also indicate your intention to walk in person at commencement. To participate in the April 17, 2026 Commencement Ceremony, your application must be submitted by March 17, 2026.

If you are planning to graduate in Spring 2026, you are invited to walk in the 2026 commencement ceremony. You must complete the Graduation-Commencement application by March 17, 2026. Your name will be printed in the 2027 commencement program.

Graduation Requirements

  • Review your Degree Audit to make sure it’s complete. Contact  Academic Advising  with any questions.*
  • Have a program grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, unless otherwise required.
  • Earn at least 25 percent of the required credits directly from Ensign College. Test credits are not included in this 25 percent.
  • Have a current ecclesiastical endorsement.
  • Apply for graduation. See "How to Apply" below for instructions.

* Helpful hint: See your academic advisor for a graduation check to make sure you are eligible. Ask about:

How to Apply

  1. Apply for graduation and commencement here . You can also find the link in MyEnsign on the right side of your Student Center.
  2. Pay the $15 diploma fee at the Cashier’s Office.
  3. Complete this required survey as a step towards your graduation eligibility Graduation Survey

Order Cap and Gown

If you plan to walk at Commencement in April, you must order a cap, gown, and tassel.

Ordering

  • Place your cap and gown orders by March 27, 2026, on the Ensign page of the Jostens website .
  • Be sure to purchase the complete package, which includes a cap, gown, and tassel. If you already have one or more of these items, only purchase what you need.

Picking Up

  • Your cap and gown will be delivered to campus and available in the library for pickup April 6 – 16.
  • At the time of pickup, if you have a GPA of 3.7 or higher, you can purchase a yellow honor cord for $10.

Forgot to Order?
If you were not able to order before the deadline, we will have a limited number of cap and gown sets available for purchase. You may also consider borrowing from friends or family.

Commencement Exercises

Friday, April 17, 2026, 10 a.m.
The Tabernacle at Temple Square

Students who graduate in Spring 2025, Fall 2025, Winter 2026, or Spring 2026 are eligible to participate in person, at the Ensign College’s commencement exercises on April 17, 2026. Students graduating in Fall 2026 are eligible to participate in the 2027 commencement ceremony.

Graduate Information

Graduate Check-in - April 17, 2026, 8:30 - 9:30 a.m.
There will be signs letting you know where to go when you arrive.

  • Please attend the commencement ceremony dressed in Sunday attire.
  • All students need to comply with  CES Dress and Grooming Expectations  (all - modest attire; men - clean-shaven, short hair).
  • Please do not bring coats, bags, purses, balloons, or any personal items. You can leave them with family or friends. You will not be able to take them with you past the check-in door or once the exercises begin.
  • Honor Cords are the only decoration allowed to be worn with your commencement gown.
List of Graduating Students
  • The Commencement Program will be given to graduates and guests at the commencement exercises.
  • Students who graduated in Spring 2025, Fall 2025, and Winter 2026 will be listed in the program.
Photographers
Professional photographers will be taking pictures as graduates walk across the stage. Pictures are available for purchase after the ceremony.

Guest Information

Schedule - Doors open at 9:00 a.m. for guests. Please plan on being in your seat by 9:30 a.m.

Parking – Parking is available at the Ensign College visitor parking area off of 400 W, City Creek, and limited parking under the Conference Center. There may be parking fees at City Creek and the Conference Center.

Guest Conduct
  • Do not bring balloons or food inside the Tabernacle.
  • The Tabernacle is a dedicated building. Cheering and noise makers are not allowed. Our Ensign College President will announce at the podium the appropriate time for applause.
Accommodations
  • Headsets will be available for translation in Spanish and Portuguese at the Tabernacle.

Broadcast – The commencement ceremony will be live-streamed. The link will be live on the Ensign College homepage on the morning of April 17, 2026, in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.


Faculty and Staff
Current faculty, staff, and missionaries are invited to participate or volunteer.

Processional Receiving Line
  • Faculty who qualify to be in the graduate procession receiving line will be contacted by a committee member about ordering regalia.
  • Meet at the Tabernacle Door 4 at 9 a.m. to line up in preparation for the receiving line.
  • Do not bring purses, coats, or other personal items. They are not allowed in the line, and we do not have a designated place to store them during the exercises.
  • Assistants will be in the staging area to help with regalia.
  • Diploma caps are not worn.
Staff and Missionary Volunteers
  • Staff members and missionaries serving at Ensign College are encouraged to volunteer for any of the commencement activities.
  • Please look for communication from Grayson Layton for more information and signups.

Diplomas

Diplomas are not presented during live commencement exercises; graduates receive a diploma cover to use for photos and when their credentials are mailed.

  • Diplomas are typically awarded 4-6 weeks after the semester ends.
  • The name on the diploma is your full legal name as indicated in MyEnsign.
  • When a certificate or degree is awarded, a physical diploma will be mailed to the address on record in MyEnsign. An electronic diploma will be sent to the Ensign email.
  • If graduation requirements are missing, a notification will be sent to the Ensign email.

Alumni Network

Did you know that Ensign College has an Alumni Network? Once you complete a degree or certificate at Ensign College, you become a member of the Ensign College Alumni, joining nearly 100,000 others.


Ensign Connect

Ensign Connect is the online network for Ensign College students and alumni. Alumni can network with other alumni and current students, and use our exclusive job board to post internships and jobs. This job board allows you a “warm introduction” to employment opportunities in our alumni network and with our preferred employer partners.


You can also help mentor the rising generation of Ensign College students by answering their questions, giving them feedback on their resumes, and helping them with their career questions.

  • Graduation is the completion of the requirements for your certificate or degree. Commencement is the ceremony to celebrate the completion of your certificate or degree.

    • Go to the Graduation-Commencement application here
    • The first question on the application is “Have you completed this application before and wish to update an answer?” Select “yes”
    • Enter your student ID number and the changes to make
    • If you graduate Spring 2026, you are eligible to walk in the 2026 commencement. Your name will be in the 2027 commencement program.
    • Fall 2026 graduates cannot walk early and must attend the 2027 commencement exercises.
  • You will be notified that you did not graduate via email to your Ensign email address. You must reapply for graduation-commencement for a future semester.

  • Please do not alter or embellish the cap or gown. Honor cords are allowed. Other accessories can be worn after the commencement ceremony concludes.

  • No. The doors will be open to family and friends. There will be signs directing visitors to the appropriate entrance.

  • Your full legal name will print on your diploma. If your legal name is different from the name listed in MyEnsign, follow the directions for a change of personal information.

  • Diplomas will be sent to the mailing address in MyEnsign. If you wish to pick up your diploma in person, please change your mailing address to “pick up in person”. Remember to change it back to your mailing address once you’ve received your diploma. You will need to show your Ensign ID card to pick up your diploma.

  • Yes. You will need to complete the graduation-commencement application for a future semester.

    • Certificates and degrees are posted 4-6 weeks after the semester ends. Check your Ensign email for updates.
    • To forward your Ensign email to your personal email, follow the instructions here .
  • Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.7 at the time they pick up their cap and gown qualify for graduating with honors.

  • You can receive your diploma with any hold except the Ecclesiastical Endorsement hold. You must have a current ecclesiastical endorsement as part of the graduation requirements.

  • You can request a diploma reprint (which includes both an electronic and paper version) using the Diploma Reprint Request Form . The cost is $10. A paper copy will then be sent to the address listed on MyEnsign.

    • Commencement programs are available at the Tabernacle on the day of commencement
