  2. Sara, Rebeca and Gabriela Acevedo - Finalists in Ensign College’s Lion's Den Entrepreneur Challenge, submitted their AREIA Pearls business as an entry to the Top 100 Pitch Competition and were independently selected as contestants. The Acevedo sisters started their business to support small businesses and their country’s economy by buying pearls from their home country of Venezuela. Their products include bracelets, earrings, and necklaces made of natural saltwater pearls that come from the small Venezuelan island of Margarita.

Managed by Ensign College student officers Laura (Mack) Fontano (President) and Lindsay Holcomb (Vice President), the Ensign College CEO chapter is focused on preparing students with the leadership and entrepreneurial skills needed for success in the business world.

Says Greg Fox, Business Department Chair and Faculty Advisor for the Collegiate Entrepreneur’s Organization at Ensign College: “Participation in the CEO organization gives our students a tremendous opportunity to gain exposure in the entrepreneurship community. Participants have the chance to network, compete in competitions, and ultimately master more of the skills needed to start, fund, and run their own businesses. Paired with the immersive experiences they have during their courses at Ensign College, our students come away with a wealth of knowledge and the vital skills needed to run successful operations upon graduation.”

The winning Top 100 Pitch Competition teams are in the process of preparing information for additional screenings in the competition. Once selected, the top 20 teams will be invited to present in person in Chicago, Illinois during the week of October 28-30, 2022, for the 39th annual Global Conference and Pitch Competition.

Congratulations to each of the teams for this recognition of their innovative business models and for making the Top 100 list!
