Admission Requirements

All international applicants must meet the following admission requirements, in addition to the requirements listed below based on student type.

    Equivalency of a high school diploma is required. See "Student Types" below.

    International First-Year Students

    You’re just starting college and have not earned college credits after high school. Ensign College requires proof of high school completion or its equivalent.

    What to Submit
    • If you completed high school outside of the U.S., please have your official secondary transcript sent to one of the approved evaluation agencies listed below.
    • If you completed high school in the U.S., please submit your official high school transcript to Ensign College using these instructions.
  • International student

    International Transfer Students

    To apply as an international transfer student, you’ll need to provide proof of high school completion or its equivalent.

    What to Submit
    • If you’ve completed 24 or more credit hours of postsecondary (college or university) coursework, you are not required to submit your high school transcript. However, you must submit your official college transcript to one of the approved evaluation agencies listed below.
    • If you’ve completed fewer than 24 credit hours of postsecondary (college or university) coursework, you’ll need to submit both your official secondary school records (the equivalent of grades 9–12) and your official college transcripts to one of the approved evaluation agencies listed below.

    International Returning Students

    If you have not enrolled in classes for three consecutive semesters (including spring semester) and were not granted a  Leave of Absence  or a  Deferment  , you must reapply to Ensign College.

    What to Submit
    • If you earned credit from another U.S. regionally accredited or international college or university since you last attended Ensign College, please submit your transcripts to Ensign College using these instructions
    • Transcripts from institutions outside the United States must be reviewed by one of the third-party evaluation agencies listed below.

Transcript Evaluation Agencies

We recommend that you arrange for your academic documents to be submitted to IERF or TEC at least 4-6 weeks before our admission application deadline to allow enough time for the company to submit the evaluation to us.

Please do not send transcripts or other documentation directly to us unless they are from an accredited U.S. institution. We will discard any international transcripts that are not properly evaluated.

Submitting Transcripts

An official transcript can be submitted using one (and only one) of the following methods:

  • Sent electronically through Parchment Exchange, the National Student Clearinghouse, or SCRIP-Safe
  • Emailed directly from the issuing institution to collegetranscript@byu.edu
  • Mailed directly from the issuing institution to:

After submitting your application, please review your application status page to confirm which transcripts are required.

U.S. Regional Accreditation

Ensign College recognizes colleges and universities accredited by U.S. regional accrediting agencies listed below and generally accepts college-level coursework from these institutions. If you are not sure whether your school is accredited, please search here.
