Salt Lake City (July 08, 2025) — Ensign College, a leader in career-focused education, will present at HigherEd PodCon , the first national conference dedicated exclusively to higher education podcasters and digital media creators. The event will take place Saturday, July 12, 2025, on the campus of the University of Illinois Chicago.
Ensign College's session, titled “Trust the Students and Allow Them to Thrive,” will spotlight THRIVE, a podcast produced and directed entirely by students. The unique session will emulate a live podcast recording, featuring President Bruce C. Kusch and Associate Director of Career Services, Greg Fox—regular hosts of THRIVE—as they interview Logan Page, student director of the podcast, and Joseph Kerry, faculty mentor for Studio E, the student team behind the production. “Instead of learning theory or how something should work,” said Logan Page, “I am getting real experience with how it actually works.”
The THRIVE podcast exemplifies Ensign College's commitment to applied, career-ready learning. Students manage every aspect of the podcast, from guest communication and episode direction to set design, editing, and marketing. This hands-on experience equips students with practical skills and industry credentials, preparing them to contribute from their first day on the job.
“Our mission at Ensign College is to develop capable and trusted disciples of Jesus Christ,” said President Kusch. “By placing students at the forefront of real-world projects like the THRIVE podcast, we create opportunities for them to gain practical skills, industry credentials, and workforce experience.”
HigherEd PodCon 2025 will feature over 40 presenters and 15 sessions, bringing together faculty, staff, tech specialists, and communicators from more than 25 institutions across North America. The conference aims to foster a vibrant, collaborative community for higher ed podcasters, sharing expertise and building connections.
