Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a free program that helps students better understand their class material through group study sessions.
Instead of one-on-one tutoring, SI offers a relaxed and supportive space where students can work together, review tough concepts, and build strong study habits.
SI sessions are:
- Led by trained student leaders who have already passed the class.
- Designed to combine how to learn with what to learn.
- Focused on reviewing and reinforcing class material—not re-teaching it.
- A place to practice study skills, ask questions, and get peer support.
In short, SI gives you structured study time, practical strategies, and support to help you succeed. Here’s feedback from students who have taken SI sessions:
- They love getting useful, detailed instruction: “SI is much more effective than trying to learn through YouTube tutorials.”
- “SI sessions are less formal than class, so I’m more comfortable asking questions.”
- SI sessions are a unique and much-needed support to coursework.

Jordan
Hi, I'm Jordan, your SI for MAT 107. I'm currently pursuing both a degree in Software Engineering and a degree in Computer Science. I love math because it teaches me to think outside the box, and I appreciate and enjoy the opportunity to pass that skill along to others. During our SI sessions, we'll review the more challenging parts of the class, practice problems, and ensure that everyone feels comfortable asking questions and understanding the material.
