All Ensign College degrees start with certificates. You can complete the UI and UX certificates individually or together in less than one year.
The UI/UX associate of applied science degree is a 2-year program that prepares you to analyze and choreograph the online user experience from beginning to end. Students will engage in practical projects applying core design principles to create intuitive workflows that enhance usability of web platforms. You'll also learn to plan and conduct user research to gather meaningful insights which will guide design decisions.
The UI and UX certificates can also be part of several bachelor's degree programs, including Software Engineering, Business Management, and Communication.
A UI/UX degree is invaluable in the tech field. Here are a few possibilities.
Junior Associate UI/UX Designer
Conduct user research such as user interviews and prototype testing, as well as competitive analysis. Extrapolate user research data to identify user desires in order to best meet their needs and solve potential problems. Create personas, journey maps, sitemaps and information architecture. You'll also analyze existing designs to understand user needs and product goals, and conduct competitor analysis, along with performing hands-on design work, ensuring design consistency, and designing the interactive properties of UI products.
UI/UX Software Engineer
Collaborate with a diverse team to code, implement and refine user interfaces; conduct automated testing; and troubleshoot web applications to ensure optimal performance for the user.
UI/UX Developer
Put your creative and technical skills to work transforming research-driven ideas into efficient, user-friendly web application features that meet user needs.
With a UI/UX degree, you'll be prepared to assess and design the digital user experience from concept to adoption within an agile project management environment. Upon completion, students will have added to their portfolios several projects building both technical and soft skills.
Upon completion of the degree, you'll be able to:
- Develop user-centered designs using iterative processes and best practices.
- Demonstrate proficiency in industry-standard tools for design and prototyping.
- Exhibit effective collaboration, communication, and leadership in UI/UX design projects.
- Integrate accessibility, usability, and ethical principles, including Gospel values, into design processes.
You’ll also leave here with the skills to communicate effectively, articulate your career preparation confidently, and collaborate with others meaningfully. And in all things, we’ll help you work toward becoming a capable and trusted disciple of Jesus Christ. So whatever you do, you’ll be prepared to be the best you possible.
