Program Overview
The Human Resource Management program is one of the foundational certificates for the Business Management bachelor’s and associate of applied science degrees. You can also receive a BAS in Business Management with an emphasis in Human Resource Management.
This program will prepare you from day one to employ a deep understanding of people, policies, legal requirements, and career development in your job. Upon completion of the certificate, you'll be prepared to be certified as an associate professional in human resources (aPHR).
The Human Resource Management program offers three levels of degrees:
- Certificate: Get just the certificate, or include it as part of a Business Management AAS or BAS degree. View Certificate in Catalog

Human Resource Specialist
As a human resource specialist, you'll be the front line of workforce recruitment and management. You'll collaborate with employers to identify hiring needs, conduct interviews, and onboard new employees. From screening applicants to coordinating orientation programs, you'll ensure a seamless transition into the workforce. With expertise in recruitment, compensation, and benefits administration, you'll also serve as a trusted advisor on organizational policies and procedures. Whether handling administrative tasks or strategic planning, you'll uphold regulatory compliance and foster positive employee relations, shaping the foundation for organizational success. Average salary in the US as of May 2022: $64,240. (BLS)
Training and Development Specialist
As a training and development specialist, you'll be the architect of organizational growth, designing and implementing programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge. Through careful assessment of training needs, you'll create tailored programs utilizing diverse instructional techniques, from online modules to interactive workshops. You'll also oversee the delivery of training sessions, facilitate collaborative learning environments, and evaluate program effectiveness. From crafting training manuals to coordinating enrollment logistics, you'll ensure seamless execution while empowering employees to reach their full potential. With a blend of creativity and expertise, you'll drive continuous learning and development within organizations. Average salary in the US as of May 2022: $63,080. (BLS)
Upon completion of this certificate, you'll be able to:
- Create policies to ensure compliance with relevant employment laws
- Develop strategic workforce planning, recruiting, and retention initiatives
- Design and evaluate compensation and benefit structures
- Plan effective training, development, and performance management programs
- Prepare to take the aPHR certification exam offered by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).
